Boat racing contest
Hundreds of thousands of local Battambang people celebrate the traditional boat racing
contest, which is held once every year at the end of October to celebrate the ancestors and
the spirit of water. This event took place at Sangkae River which floats through Battambang
town. Sangkae River is one of the biggest streams that bring huge quantity of fresh water from
the Cardamom Mountains toward Tonley Sap Lake which is one of the biggest fresh water lakes
in South East Asia.
